The 7000 liters is from Brest to MC. Shirleys question was for the organizers fuelplanning so everyone is supposed to have the fuel for the first leg to Brest.
Think I will fill up some 8-900 liters for the first leg so the total for the race is almost 8000 liters. The engines use about 100-105 l per engine at 3000 rpm which translates to 76-77 kn with racepropellers. The tests I made before the winter showed about 2,6-2,8 l/Nm at 65 kn average. Also know that Fabio calculates with 5,9 l/Nm at 80 kn for Cesa with his 600+ engines so my 7-8000 liters for the race should not be to far of. |

On a completely different note, Annie Beakhust was such a major part and driving force of the Round Britain race in 2008 that my wife and I often say that we would have been hard pushed to have made that race happen had it not been for her. Her knowledge and expereince of the sport was second to none and we miss that now. He ability to push through all obstacles regardless is what is needed in this sport some times.
So, in grateful memory of that awesome woman we are going to find a suitable trophy that we will present in Monaco to one of the teams that survive the trip, as for what exactly we are not sure yet but we will find a category and it will continue through all the future races. The Annie Beakhust International Trophy, sounds good. It's the least we can do. ML. .

The competitors listing keeps going up and down like a Yo Yo. Leaving last week for Norway it stood at 47. When we got back at the end of the week it's at 51!
I'm giving up on keep changing the listing and will only do this as and when I get the time. Although we decided to limit the number taking part to 50, I am going to just let time and fate play their hand so it will be interesting to see what we actually end up with. Knowing as we do the number of Teams out there still working on taking part and those that will eventually decide it's too much I will lay a bet that it will be 50+. How can we say NO to anyone wanting to take part in this race. ML.

We have just sent out a Group Email to all teams with the latest information as to whats going on - and there's a lot! If you haven't received it you need to get in touch with your details.
We will shortly be putting this up on our "Venture Pits" Facebook site for race teams and organisers. Now it's time to ML.

This stage of the race becomes very interesting, seeing new boats taking shape, this is the new Vector 40 CMC race boat with the deck just fitted. More to come!

Another CMC boat!
Another amazing Cowes/Monte-Carlo boat rises from it's mould. Ole Finholts new 42ft Chief, Deck and Hull meeting for the 1st time. It's going to be a great boat in the Bobby Saccenti style! A thing of beauty in the Classic style - IMHO.
Causing quite a stir on Facebook. ML. .

Thought for the day.
Dealing with certain Authorities (in this case, not the RYA for a change) can be exasperating to say the least, it's almost as if they would dearly love to see this race fail. Well, they are in for a shock. For one thing they are dealing with a very stubborn old man and a great group of helpers who all have the same vision. This race IS going to take place because too many race teams and ourselves have sunk too much money and time in making this dream happen. For the teams and ourselves preparing for the Venture Cup and the Cowes/Monte-Carlo, it’s all about a small thing called ‘belief’. With it, we can take on the over zealous, will destroying, suffocating, authoritarian (for the sake of it) nonsense people, and enjoy the adventure. Belief is nothing big. You can’t chase it or train for it - you can however keep it in your mind and use it, and we will! Rant over - for today! ML. .

It maybe worth for them to note Mike that I am sure on average most teams have dedicated approx around 200k to this project, whether that is made up of asset value and team expenditure over the 18 months of build up and then the running costs of the team during the event or just outright boat value, with a third of boats of considerable more value.
In essence with 50 teams this means you have the backing and support of the racers to the tune of over £10,000,000. This on its own should make them sit up and listen! Thank you for all the time you are dedicating to making this a success. |

I think the race will get a tremendous amount of worldwide coverage, deservedly so. Are plans already a foot Mike for live coverage with the BBC or another station Mike? I would imagine that such a race will warrant 'live' footage, at least for the start...........(OK I'm hoping!)

Wow that will be tremendous. For those who for one reason or another can't attend all or part of it that will be paramount. Nice one Mike.

He does it again, Ray Bulman, one man publicity machine for the CMC! His enthusiasm for this type of racing is so infectious.

Just an appeal to all those entered in this race to get their finger out and send in their Entry Forms as requested. Shirley has asked nicely twice now so obviously that doesn't work.
So, those 10 or so who have sent in their Entry Forms please accept my apologies for being rude and ignore this missive. To those that haven't well, get to it today - please - or we will have to think up something that will startle you into doing so! ML. .

One Year To Go.
1Y 0M 0D 07H 0M 00S
Only seven hours to the start of the Venture Cup in one year’s time!! 50+ long range, high speed powerboats - line abreast across the Solent as they await the start gun from the Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes. Then they will be off on their great adventure, 2,400 miles to Monte-Carlo. Can't wait! Let's hope the weather is better though otherwise they will have a rough ride. ML. .

Just had a call from one of our competitors Richard Carlton from Guernsey who will be running a boat similar to Bounty Hunter in the Historic section of the race. As we write this he is in Santander (a very wet Santander) having just visited Brest and Sable D'Olonne - Loves Sable D'Olonne, thinks it's fantastic - which it is. Is now moving on to Sada a Coruna and Cascais checking them all out and booking his Hotels as he goes!! He is going to love those two venues as well. He said that the venues to date are getting very excited at the thought of seeing up to 50 powerboats coming into their cities. It's going to be quite a show.

RB 12, Weather
So chaps, looking out of the window today and just had the thought that we should have been going round Lands End today in the RB12 !
Clouds are moving so fast its hard to keep up. I bet its as rough as the proverbial. Lets hope that this time next year is calmer for the Cowes- Monte ... |
