2006 Dragon 39’ Powerboat

2006 Dragon 39’ Powerboat

This Dragon Powerboat, built from epoxy and kevlar in Florida by Doug Wright comes fully rigged and ready to race either as a “Round Britain” boat or as a P1 Evolution race boat. This is a very fast boat in any conditions running almost as quickly in the rough as it does in the flat.

It also has a full cabin space and could easily be converted to a pleasure boat.

The boat has raced for two seasons in the P1 World Championship, winning the 2006 title and coming third in 2007.

With the current weight required for P1 removed, this is a 100+ mph boat and unique in Europe. It has been meticulously maintained mechanically by Race & Marine in Taunton and bodywork by Osmotech in Hamble.

I am sure you will have looked into this but just in case it has slipped by... I have noted the USA are selling more Dragon boats into Europe than in their own market and to this end a new dealer is to be found in Holland, it may be fortuitous to offer this boat to the dealer for sale through his showroom especially with this boats successful offshore history

PS Although I personally hope this great boat sells over here to keep the UK offshore fans entertained

Should have room when you remove the 1000+KG of weight that is required for P1 supersport

Agree - presume this baby is no longer viable for P1 evolution with the full canopy requirement?

You can run in Evolution in 2008 without a canopy

In 2009 you will need one.

This boat can easily have a canopy added ... it was one of the original requirements we had when we bought it. Craig would simply retroactively fit it.

It carries 650 litres now, but it would be pretty straight forward to add another tank

My previous note was b*******
"Currently" there is no requirement for full canopies ... they can be full or partial. See the rule below

T.3(c) Boats may have a partial or full canopy. The use of full canopies, with integral safety cell structures consistent with the cockpit safety requirements of the UIM offshore 508 Rules, is strongly recommended.

So the boat is fine in Evolution as is

See her running this weekend!!

Hey Everyone

We are putting this boat in for a sea trial this weekend at Hamble Point Marina. The marina is about 20min from Southampton (post code is:SO31 4NB for those lucky enough to have sat nav) She will be leaving at about 1.00 - 1.30. If you fancy coming and seeing a championship race running and listening to 2 x 525hp Mercury V8's in all there throaty glory. There will be a great view from the shore of it starting in our marina and then by walking up to the point there also great view of it carrying out trials in Southampton water, worth a watch if you have time on Saturday 15th Jan. plenty of free parking and a marina bar for afterwards (what else do you need for a good saturday?).

more details on boat click here

Didn't take it out in the end as we believed the "weather forecast" ... then it turned out not to be so bad.

Anyway, now re-scheduled for next Saturday .... and all the weight is out

Sounds like it's going to be fun, you may have noticed the thread how fast by Hunton 69 perhaps we should have a new thread on guess the speed of the Dragon now it's been on a major diet...although JF will win this as the how fast and how heavy were know previously, so as quick as jack flash he will of worked out the C Number and come up with a speed

To help out those who want to play, take a look at this:

www.extremeboat.com/downloads/propslip.exe

You have to know prop size and gear ratio, but I have found this to be pretty accuarate to about 1 or 2 mph

Just clicked on the Extreme boat web site have not done that for a while to see if there were any intentions to bring back the Dragon into racing this year, it did have the boat listed on the web site for sale for over a year but it has now been removed, does this mean it has been sold and if so to a British team or are team Extreme going to race again this year, anyone know
