Just read the blurb, who is this guy trying to rip off!! The boat is early 90`s, it will never get anywhere near 80mph and what the hell are those dorsal fins sticking out of the deck? You are right Cookee, he is having a laugh!!

I bought it off Bob Lewthwate, it was called "Wave slave". Before that Charles Gardner had it and prior to that Ian Cutler. It was originally built I think for Ocke`s son. It was built as a 1.3 litre boat and was pretty quick with a 90 Tohatsu hanging off the back but was a real handful with an XR2, which is why I sold it and bought the P21. It had a cut back transom to measure for 1.3 and was fitted with a plate to bring it back to length for 3C.
I had a lot of work done to it where the sides had delaminated and there were a few issues with the bottom of the hull. It was not particularly light after all the strengthening work had been done.
I sold it to a guy in Colchester without an engine as he said he was going to mount a helicopter motor in it. Within a couple of months he found the motor would not fit, had slung an XR2 on the back, presumably scared himself and it was back on the market.
Hope this helps.

Never have liked that boat.

That was the hull that nicked the '95 3B World Title from Peter Wilson and ciao.

We were running 68 -69 mph in an Argo Cat and this bloody thing was keeping up with us.

I hope Ted looks on his trophies with fond memories, and sends his Tohatsu mecs a Christmas card.

The only way that will see 80 is towing it down the motorway!
The hull was designed to take 1.3, putting an XR2 on it made it almost undrivable. The more power you chuck on it the worse it will get. If that is the engine that was on it when the guy from Colchester sold it then it is an XR2 putting out at best 200hp, not a 280.
If someone was looking to start racing in 3B it would be an ideal starter boat, exchange the XR2 for a Yam 90 and you are away. Remember though that technology has moved on and this would never be a match for Stumpy`s B23.
We had a full season trying to catch that when it was fitted with a 90 Tohatsu and came off second best every time. (2003)

I thought it was your old boat from the stickers - an XR2 would only ever make 280 hp after heavy tuning and even then only for a few seconds before it started blowing conrods out of the side of the block! (IMHO)

hmmmmm...... doubt it
This boat was built for a 1.3 to compete in 3b..... never really suited to cope with 280hp, was yours??
he used to own the boat
and is an extremely capeable driver
(only going off what ive heard and seen!)
if he says THAT boat wont do 80 on the water
i dont rekon it will do 80

evryone lies about the speed there boat will do
my ring HAS hit 76.7 once...
and if people ask how fast it goes, i say... about 80

Interesting that you think I am talking crap, yet you have asked me for advise on your B23 set-up.
There will always be some hero that straps a massive lump on the back of a small boat that was never designed to take it and maybe on mirror smooth conditions they see some great speed just before they have to back off before the thing kills them. I was offering sound advise to anyone who may be under the illusion that this seller was selling a safe rig and in my opinion, as someone who spent all of 2004 trying to get it suitable to race in the National Championships, it is not for the faint hearted with an XR2. Racing an offshore boat means going out in all conditions, not doing short bursts on lake conditions and this boat certainly is not to be recommended as it is currently set up. I want to try and encourage more people into the sport, which is why I said this would be OK with a 90 on the back, encouraging them to run it as it is, will only put them off.

That's all well & good Ian, but what have you ever done?

You old duffers are all the same. Let a young, brave racer get their hands on it, then we'll see.

BTW, when Ian Cutler put the XR2 on it after wrecking the VV23, it bit him once or twice (every time he drove it), usually drawing large quantities of

blood in the process. Pascoe had a picture above his desk over which he would glote of Ian covered in blood following a particularly brutal stuff.

He had previously had enormous success in that boat as a 1.3.

You are right Jon, I`ll get me coat!!
I was warned by two previous owners not to put the XR2 on the back, but like a fool I went ahead but soon realised they were offering sound advise based on their previous experience. The rude awakening came in the enduro at Windermere when it spat me out! Windermere water temperature in October is bracing to say the least.
