Phantom 20-xr2 For Sale

I Bought This Boat Two Years Ago To Use For Leisure Use But Then Decided To Take Part In Some Basic Racing-i’ve Now Got The Bug But This Boat Doesn’t Fit The Current Class Structure Hence It’s Reluctantly For Sale.
Phantom 20’ Built Oct 1987 Built For Offshore Racing With Carbon Deck, Solid Black With Three Colour Orange Stripes In Gel Coat, Boat Is All The Original Gel Coat In Very Bright Shiny Condition-minor Fading On Rear Steps (not Protected From The Sun When Cover Fitted), Never Been Antifouled And Hull Is Polished, Has Normal Phantom Crazing And Very Minor Loading Scratches-no Signs Of Any Repairs. Race Spec Interior- Painted Floor All Original None Of The Normal Rotten Ply , No Transom Cracks.alloy Fuel Tank Approx 20 Gals-now Fitted In Away That You Can Move For And Aft To Ballance Weight.full Fitted Cover.
Since I’ve Had It I’ve Carried Out The Following Checks Repairs Or Replacements;
Outboard- 2.0- Xr2-200hp-later Block, Offshore Leg,low Water Pick Up-centered On Transom,changed Plugs,impeller And Housing,gear Oil-3 Times,overhauled Starter,regulator,fitted Water Pressure Gauge,alien Cowl With Top Pin Catch,i Regularily Check The Compressions And Their Allways Arroung The 150 Mark.
Replaced Ignition Switch,fitted Stainless Ski Pole Supports Required As Because It’s A Lightweight Hull It’s Not Got The 3”x2”wooden Support,fitted Stainless Rear Boarding Ladder.seastar Pro Hydraulic Steering With Kevlar Hoses,cooks-hydraulic Engine Litfter With Stailess Aeroquip Hoses To Mount Pump Inside Boat(just Overhauled Ram Hence Not Fitted)new Relays And Indicator Style Trim/ Lifter Swiches-has The Cables Fitted For Dash Height Dislpay To Show Engine Hight And Trim But Could Do With A Proper Dash Unit.new Battery,battery Cut Out,
Interior;have All The Seats-front Bucket And Rear Three Seat Bench-all Trimmed In Black With Orange Stripes,also Two Highback Rally Seats Untrimmed,
Trailer;all Though It Looks Tatty Its Only The Paintwork,its A Fully Galvanised Profesionally Built Custom Trailer-its Been Painted That Doesn’t Seem To Stick To A Calvanised Trailer So I Was Going To Paint Stripper It Back To Calvanised-gradually Its Coming Off On Its Own.i’ve Fitted Nylon Centre Rollers With Stainless Pins This Helps The Boat Slide On And Off The Trailer Very Easily With The Carpeted Bunks To Just Support The Boat(can Be Launched In Very Shallow Water),i’ve Fitted Five New Tyres,new Galvanised Mudgaurds.all New Wheel Bearing,brake Shoes And Brake Cables-brakes Actaully Work.new Winch,new Heavy Duty Jockey Wheel.includes Lightboard And Straps
This Has Been My First Experience Of This Type Of Boat And As I Said I Bought It For Leisure Use In Comparison To My Previous Cuddy Style Boat This Is Far More Useable In Our Very Unpredictable Weather, It’s Great In The Flat Topping Out At Just Under 70 Mph But Also Very Happy In Quite Severe Weather, There Was Many A Time That I Had To Cancel An Outing Before- I Now Kind Of Hope For Some Chop, It Does Allow You More Use Which It’s All About.
I’ve Tried To Describe This As Best As I Can, It’s Been A Race Boat Most Of Its Life And I Would Say Is A Credit To Its Previous Owner, The Boat’s Not Mint But Is A Very Sound Sorted Boat That Has Plenty Of Life Left In It, I Would Consider Breaking /selling Seperatly But Only In The Following Sequence; Engine -boat-trailer. As I Would Need To Run The Engine For A Prospective Buyer And Cant Move/store The Boat Without The Trailer.also I Would Consider A Deal On Ocr Type Boat.
Price £4750 Or Boat-excluding Engine £2000, Engine –including Alien Cowl £2000, Trailer £1000, Engine Lifter £400, More Than The Complete Package To Cover Hasle.
Test Drive Available But Only On Reciept Of £200 Refundable On Purchase (stops Tyre Kickers) Any Queries Please Call Nic On 07811 147815 Not After 10.00 Pm.located 30 Miles South Of Bristol.

Instead of waiting till the weekend (daylight)these are pictures from when I bought it,the only visable changes would be the different lower tray and skirt for Alien cowl and the steering is now Seastar Pro.

I think it is a 1990 motor,it has no facility that logs hours-like the modern stuff.I've asked on here previously about scheduled rebuilds on this engine and the opion seems to be that the cost of a rebuild would be as much as buying a replacement used powerhead,so save money keep it properly lubed with top quality oil-I use Mercury Premium Plus at 35:1 ratio and I allways check the compressions regularily-this would hopefully give you an indication of piston/piston ring failiure.I have allways tried to use a prop that keeps the revs down as well.They will rev to way over 7,500 but I keep to 6,500 max.It is a race engine and probably my use has not stressed it at all but with any engine rebuilt or not they can let go anytime it is a bit of a lotery.Nic

Nic what props do you have going with the boat, also any safety equipment and are kill switches wired in. I do not see mention of ballast tank but think I see the intake in one of your pictures, is there one.

Hi it depends what the buyer wants to use it for,I will supply it with one prop,choice of Lazer 2 High 5 or Offshore.No its not got a bow tank,I've found moving the fuel tank back and forth(10 min job) to suit conditions quite effective,but not as adjustable as a bow tank in changing conditions I would imagin.Two Kill switches fitted,Anchor, Flag,tow rope and new compass just needs Flares and personal Safety gear.It has a new Greytronics intercom and a colour fishfinder that can be bought seperately if required if not I'll remove them.Lifter is not fitted but I would be happy to re-fit it if required.Cheers Nic
