Got to this thread surfing the site, and was tempted to reply as I have the same (stock) engine.

Nice pair of engines !
I Could use the RH lower unit with low waterpickup and that chopper prop (26p?) Sounds to me they should make more than 220hp each : blueprinted, twin spark cilinder head, tuned carbs.

greets, T. :-)

Thanks, any pics of your boat. Its a shame that Insurance companies dont seem as keen on the cats as we are

Good luck with the cougar, looks stunning !

Are those light weight top cowlings ?
I measured mine yesterday, and it weighs a whopping 13,5 kg or almost 30lbs !!!!. That's enormous compared to the engine + gearcase that only weigh 186kg or 410lbs.

I know Hydrotec in US makes a expensive light weight cowl, but I guess there must be a European equivalent ?

Thanks Toffy, the cowls dont seem that heavy, whether it is because there is no sound proofing or if they are lighter constructed I dont know.
Firing them up this weekend so cant wait to hear them

Regards

Mine is stock and includes all internals and sound proofing. So it weighs a ton... by figure of speach

Good luck with the restart, they'll produce an impressive sound with those open exhausts.

Hi Toffy, I had to go to the UK for a few weeks so I only got around to running the looms through and connecting all the gauges and trims before leaving.

Got back on the Island this evening so hopefully can get a few hours work on her this weekend, will post more when I have time and thanks for your interest

All the best

Steve

Towed the boat to town at the weekend to run the engines and the slip was blocked, maybe next weekend will get some footage off my phone of both the motors running.

She was running 100mph + on her last set of engines, have yet to dial her in with props to suit these motors so will have to wait and see.
