You have answered your own question. Besides, we can’t do everything ourselves and no one else is prepared to work for two years for nothing but thankfully Steve has offered his help for which we are very gratefull.

Interestingly there haven’t been many who have, not even you Tony.

I thought it was pretty well known that I have no interest what so ever in Powerboat Racing, I can't even be arsed to drive the 10 miles to the coast to watch when they're racing in Poole Bay.

The 1st year of Honda sapped what little enthusiasm I had left, and 10 or so days driving round Britain in 2008 finished me off!

For that reason I don't think I'd be much use to the organisers.

An awful lot!! Can't be specific because you can imgaine the guffaws that would come on here if we let that out. It would be 2006/2007 all over again. Too many people are too negative.

This race is going to happen because we will continue to work until it does, simples! We wouldn't have started all this if we didn't think we could pull it off. Great news coming soon.

Life just got a whole lot better. Have just had an email from one of my heroes, the legendary Bobby Saccenti. Bobby is building a 44ft Chief fitted with 2,000hp of diesel power for new paid up Cowes to Monte-Carlo entrant ole herman finholt.

Ole tells me it was a magic moment when Bobby confirmed that he would build a special Chief 44 for him for this race. Both tell me it is going to be a monster built specially to handle the big seas of the Atlantic that the racers will be meeting on their way down to the Med.

Once again this will be a boat to watch. Link to Chief Powerboats is: http://www.chiefpowerboats.com/

Link to a video showing Bobby doing what he does best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGBFD6oSjM0

Can't wait to see this one run!

You need to read what Bobby says on his web site, it's very interesting. Should go REALLY well with 2,000hp and Ole on the throttles.

Also a lot of "History" there - have a search on Offshoreonly.com if you have the time - long story!

I had lunch with Bobby yesterday in Miami and he was telling me all about this. He is very excited and now of course, that means I have to find some way to mount an entry also. Can't have him having all the fun over there.

Another interesting you tube to watch.....put in the search box...Bushmills 1979
and remember as you watch it, the boat that finished second was throttled by Saccenti LOL

Dudes! Here's how we do it - gets everybody happy, and cheaper too:
Instead of having me cluelessly yanking any stick-like object within reach...We simply stuff His Bobness in there.
Charlie drives. That's what he do. Peter's and May is a big co. so one boat more or less... Navigator I've got already; blowboater - I'll give him 20 min. tops before his first heart attack. Not to worry...Volvo and Garmin go well together! Kinda like beer and pizza....

Ole

When I showed up at Bob's shop the other day, he was deep inside the 41 foot Apache he just finished restoring....Hammerhead. As he jumped out, he laughed and said...."I can't help it, I just love doing this!!"

Ole, you have picked not only the most experienced builder of offshore race boats you could, but probably the most enthusiastic one too.

Your offer is very much appreciated, but let me have a small amount of time to see what I can do before I accept.

Bob and I have to devise a plan, to not only win the race, but we have to beat that Dean Gibbs fellow. Dean brought that big behemoth of a 52 footer against the little 31 footer I was in last September, in the Don Aronow Memorial Around Long Island race. (Plus Dean owes me a T-shirt)
