Here are some Photo's of Torquay, as you can see we were Ribnobber marshals this weekend,

As you can see i'm crap at photos

As i'm not in the racing scene,But does anyone know why you have OCR,Ski Racing, 2 lts, and v24s at Torquay, then have Honda racing in Liverpool at the same weekend, Why do all parties not get together and have everything including Zapcats, do a tour of the UK through the summer months TOGETHER?
I take it there will be a good reason why not.
Anyone know?

I am told, but I dont know if it is true, that Honda will not race where they can be directly compared to other 'budget' classes such as V24 or C3 as it would detract from their supposed 'performance'.

Its a pity about that
But nobody is expecting a stock 225 on a 28ft cougar to perform say as a V24, The hondas are good close racing as OCR are while the v25 are watched for the noise, speed and being able to punch there way through big water as Sunday showed,by the way i was well impressed with these,
If altogether the Zaps would show very tight inshore racing.
For the spectators the general public, having all classes of race boats together (one place) would maybe get more of a following of the racing.
As i was driving down from Scotand Fri morning i saw the Hondas heading up to Liverpool up the M6.

You and I definately do not expect them to, as we understand some things about boats, engines and stuff..., but to the general public the impression 'could be' that the Honda's are not capable of what other boats can do, and that would be bad for the image.

What speed do the hondas do on a good day anyway?
I would have thought it would be about 60-65 ish,

On a perfect day the 225 does 67.08 over 1 km
During a race you could expect it to do 55 ish as an average.

I'd have to disagree with your estimate of average speed, as the 21's often average very clost to their top speed, although they do have a superb pedigree.

The fastest the 225 has ever been officially recorded is 67.08mph over a 1 km run return. Thats why I said on a perfect day the 225 does 67.08. In 'normal' trim I would expect they do around 65 max. The 55mph average speed for a race I pulled from the average timed speed for the top 6 boats in race results I looked up. Could be that I just happened to look at the results for a slower race.

In 2003, the V24 Powerboat website stated they were racing at speeds exceeding 80mph. Even today we race at speeds IRO 74mph, occasionally touching 76, averaging 72....

Oh, and the pleasure version of the Bladerunner can top 80mph

There should be a law allowing you to reduce the price of a boat by the same % that the manufacturer/designer/builder overstates the speed by.. That would quickly bring back a little truth

It's the 5.7 litre GM V8 block - 320 hp

Meaning that the V24 may only run in the 70's, but it has to be a fecking flat day for one of the alegedly faster boats to show it's arse to a V24.

Also that the 70 odd in question, is a Windermere/Coniston 70 odd, which mustn't be confused with a bar room 70 odd.

How fast do you think a 24 foot mono weighing in at over a ton should go (assuming you think 75 from 320cshp is 'slow').
